Jeremy (Lancaster, PA) I can keep 1 player from last years team in exchange for my 1st round pick. I have to decided before I know my draft position. Are any of my players from last years team worth giving up my 1st pick?
Brett Favre
Marshawn Lynch
Drew Brees
Earnest Graham
Willie Parker
The Jungle Your decision comes down to two players. Drew Brees or Marshawn Lynch. Both players could be in for big years. Brees is a top 5 quarterback in my opinion and I think the Saints offense is going to rival the Dallas Cowboys this year in the NFC.
Marshawn Lynch on the other hand is a running back with a lot of upside. He was overshadowed by Adrian Peterson in 07 but in your standard league he was a consistent starter in all leagues and this is at the most important fantasy position as well. This year he could be a legit #1 fantasy back. You can't pass on that for Drew Brees. Lynch should be your choice.
Nick (Atlanta, GA) I have just joined a league with some of my friends. Apparently its a keeper league? I have been put on a team another friend had used last year. I know i get to pick two of my players to keep on my team but i am stuck between Marques Colston, Drew Brees, and Clinton Portis. Since I am new to this which two are the better positions to start off with.
The Jungle Running-back is the most important position in fantasy football. Chances are if you don't have a running back on your roster then you will need to rely on your quarterback to have a year like Tom Brady did.
Clinton Portis is the obvious first choice here. He's good for 1,200 yards and 10+ touchdowns as long as he remains healthy. All indications are he is healthy.
For your 2nd keeper you have a tough decision since both players play on the same team. I think Colston is a #1 fantasy receiver and in most cases you take the receiver but Drew Brees is a legit fantasy quarterback and the quality of play at quarterback just isn't as deep as it once was. The Saints offense revolves around Drew Brees, not Marques Colston. In this case I'd go with Drew Brees..
To recap keep Clinton Portis and Drew Brees.
Mike (Nashville, TN) I am in a keeper league and to start the season I have Jackson(STL), holt(STL), Brown(MIA) & Turner(ATL) Everyone is wanting Turner. Should I trade him, and if so what would be a good value? I have this offerso far a 1st,4th and a conditional pick next year.
The Jungle You have a good player to build your team around in Steve Jackson. He's a legit #1 fantasy back and a top 5 back in my opinion. You also have Ronnie Brown whom when healthy could really sneak up on a lot of people. He's a quality #2 fantasy back but obviously health is a concern. Turner right now is a #2 back but his upside isn't very high in my opinion. I think he's going to face 8 man fronts all day long. The Falcons don't have much of a passing threat at quarterback. Another major letdown is the Falcons offensive line is not very good.
I have Turner in my dynasty league and I would move him if I could get a high draft pick and as well as another good looking back. Try and get a deal like that.
Dwayne (Sacramento, CA) Thank you for answering our questions. I have a fantasy draft coming up and the league's rules give 4 points for a passing touchdown. I am curious are Tom Brady and Peyton Manning worth a first round pick with this type of scoring system? Everything else is standard scoring.
The Jungle Peyton Manning isn't worth a 1st round pick even in a 6 point touchdown scoring leagues. Manning did throw for 49 touchdowns in 2004 but since then he's had 28, 31, and 31 touchdowns in the last three seasons. Those numbers are rock solid but I much rather have a great running back with my 1st round pick than Peyton Manning.
Tom Brady in late round 1 is acceptable in a 6 point per touchdown pass league but 4 points is pushing it. If you can grab two quality fantasy backs with your first two picks and then come around and get a Drew Brees, Carson Palmer, or Ben Roethlisberger in round 3, you've come out in better shape than you would have had you taken Brady with your late 1st round pick.
I suggest avoiding Brady in round 1 in that draft.
James (Pittsburgh, PA) I am in a 12 team, PPR keeper league, and this is our first year to keep a player. I have a hard decision between Brian Westbrook and Randy Moss. Any suggestions?
The Jungle I'm a huge Randy Moss fan but Brian Westbrook is a top 5 fantasy back. You can't pass that up. He has the potential to lead the league in total yards this year from scrimmage. He's also had 10+ total touchdowns in the last two years. I'd keep Westbrook.
Josh (Akron, OH) I am in a keeper league were we keep 2 players. I have Addai but cannot decide who else to keep. My options are Reggie Bush, Maroney, Colston, Romo and I guess Winslow. Any recommendations?
The Jungle None of the running backs are appealing enough to keep over Tony Romo. Last year Tony Romo had 36 touchdown passes. Last year was also Tony Romo's 1st year as a full time starting QB as well.
I'd keep Romo over anyone on that list.
Zack (Fredericksburg, VA) I have a screwy league where the top QB's put up monster numbers in comparison to RB's and WR's. Here's the scoring:
QB's : 6 for TD, .5 for comp., -.25 for inc, 50 yards per point this
had Tom Brady at 547.92, Tony Romo at 404.37, Drew Brees at 392.66 and
Peyton Manning at 380.3 (the next 7 or 8 are clustered from 350 - 271)
RB's : 6 for TD, .5 for comp., 10 yards per point. This had LT at
339.74, Brian Westbrook at 325.4 (next closest was Addai at 250)
WR's : 6 for TD, .5 for comp., 10 yards per point. This had Randy Moss
at 336.3 (next closest was TO at 266.5
I have third pick overall and am contemplating taking Brady. I know numbers one and two are taking LT and AP. In this league it looks like a good move to get an elite QB. What do you think?
The Jungle It's going to be a tough decision between Tom Brady and Brian Westbrook. Since your league gives out .5 point per completion then quarterback in round 1 is definitely something you strongly consider. Brady received 199 extra points because of this last year. Even if Brady drops down to about 325 completions this year that's still an extra 162 points because of that completion stat.
That's a lot of points.
That is a strange scoring system and it's certainly not standard. That means exceptions are in play. Based on that, I don't think anyone would fault you for going Brady with the #3 pick.. He's worth the pick with that type of scoring. |
